# Booking page layout and session tiles

> Choose a calendar or list view for your booking page layout, and what each session tile shows: spaces left, duration, session name and location.

Who can do this: admins only.

Both settings live in the **Layout** group of [Booking page](/go/admin/appearance). The preview shows your own sessions, and customers see changes once you select **Save changes**. For logo and colours, see [Customise your booking page](/docs/branding).

## Choose your booking page layout

Under **Layout**, pick how customers see your schedule on a computer:

- **Calendar** (the default) - the next seven days, starting today. The arrows move a whole week at a time. Under **Arrange sessions** you choose how each day is laid out:
  - **By exact time** - sessions sit against an hour-by-hour scale, showing lengths and gaps.
  - **By time of day** - each day is split into morning, afternoon and evening, with sessions stacked in order. If the week has sessions at more than one site, each group is headed with its location.
- **List** - one row per session, grouped by day, with time, length, spaces left and location.

### When List is the better fit

A busy day of the same sessions reads well as a calendar. Consider **List** if:

- **Sessions overlap in time**, which splits calendar columns into narrow tiles.
- **Several session types run in a day**, since calendar tiles cut off longer names.
- **You show more than one location**, since side-by-side tiles squeeze out the location name.
- **Your dates are irregular**, since the calendar's seven days can be empty. The list always opens at your next session.

## Choose what each session tile shows

Also under **Layout**, four settings control each session tile, in every layout. Select **Save changes** after changing them.

- **Show spaces left** (default **Always**) - **Always** shows the remaining-spaces count on every tile; **When nearly full** only shows it once a session has 25% or less of its capacity left; **Never** hides it everywhere.
- **Show duration** (default **End time**) - **End time** shows a range, like "08:30 - 09:45"; **In minutes** shows a length, like "75m"; **Never** shows just the start time.
- **Show session name** (default on) - turn off if the time alone tells your sessions apart.
- **Show location** (default on, only with more than one [location](/docs/locations)) - on **By time of day**, switching it off also removes the location headings.

If a session offers [shorter durations](/docs/part-session) alongside its full length, its tile shows the spread, like "30-60m", for any **Show duration** value except **Never**. A shorter private hire price doesn't count.

## Common questions

1. **Do the tile settings affect availability, or only what's shown?** Only what's shown. A customer who opens a session always sees the full detail.

2. **Why is my featured session still showing its name and spaces left?** Tile settings don't apply to [featured sessions](/docs/session-visibility), which always show name, date and spaces left (or **Choose a date**). **Show location** is the exception and applies to featured cards too.

3. **Why does the calendar repeat some days when I press the arrow?** The calendar opens on today, but every later week starts on your **Week starts on** day ([Settings → Company](/go/admin/settings/company) → Regional settings), so the first press may show a few of the same days again.

4. **Why are sessions that already finished today still on the calendar?** They stay on it, marked as finished, so today never looks empty.
