# Session pricing

> Session is booking software for saunas and other shared-capacity sessions.
> Free to set up, no subscription, and no card required to start.

## Platform fee

- **0.5% per paid booking, capped each month** at a fixed amount in the venue's own currency: US$150, £100, €90, A$150, C$140, NZ$170.
- No setup fee, no monthly subscription, no contract, no card required to start.
- Free (zero-price) bookings carry no platform fee.

## Card processing (separate, and not paid to Session)

- Card payments run through Stripe into **the venue's own Stripe account**.
- Stripe sets the rate, and it depends on the country the venue's Stripe account is registered in, plus the card type and where the card was issued. Stripe publishes its rates for each country at https://stripe.com/pricing.
- For example, Stripe's standard online rates are **~1.5% + 20p** on UK cards for a UK account, and **2.9% + 30¢** on US cards for a US account (a US account also pays an extra 1.5% on international cards, and 1% where currency conversion is needed).
- This is Stripe's fee, charged on any booking platform that takes cards through Stripe. It is not ours to charge and does not pass through Session.

## What that means in practice

Worked examples on a card booking of 20 in the local currency, using the standard domestic rates above:

- **UK (£20 booking):** roughly **£0.10 to Session** (0.5%) and roughly **£0.50 to Stripe** (1.5% + 20p) - about **£0.60, or 3% all-in**.
- **US ($20 booking):** roughly **$0.10 to Session** (0.5%) and roughly **$0.88 to Stripe** (2.9% + 30¢) - about **$0.98, or 4.9% all-in**.

The Session share is the same 0.5% everywhere; the difference is Stripe's rate. Because the
Session share is capped each month, the effective platform rate falls as a venue grows.

## Regions

Session is available to venues worldwide, including the UK, Ireland, the US, Canada,
Australia, New Zealand, and across Europe. Each venue sets its own country, currency,
timezone, clock format, and tax label, and customers see live FX hints when they browse
in another currency.

Taking card payments needs Stripe, which the venue connects as its own account, so online
card payments are available wherever Stripe operates (see https://stripe.com/global).
Stripe goes by where the venue's business is registered. Where Stripe is not available,
everything else in Session still works and venues record payments taken in person.
