Session vs Momence

Momence is studio software for yoga, Pilates, fitness and wellness, built around classes, appointments and its own customer app. Session is built only for saunas, where many guests book spaces in the same session. The differences are how pricing works, and the sauna details: private hire, flexible lengths and per-guest waivers.

What Session adds

Momence is a broad studio platform. These are the places Session is different for a sauna.

Pricing you can read

0.5% per paid booking, capped each month in your own currency, with no sales call to find out.

No subscription or contract

Free to set up. Quiet months cost little, and busy months stop at the cap.

Flexible start times

Private hire built in

A private hire price books out the whole session, alongside shared spaces in the same schedule.

Per-guest waivers

Each guest signs on their own phone, and staff see who has signed at check-in.

Gift vouchers to print

PRICING

The pricing difference, plainly

Momence doesn’t publish its rates: its pricing page asks you to book a call, and its spa page lists plans at $0, $60 and $199 a month, with payment fees waived only on the top plan. Session charges 0.5% per paid booking, capped each month, plus Stripe’s card fee paid from your own Stripe account. Here’s what that comes to in each currency.

WHERE MOMENCE FITS

When Momence is the better pick

Momence is a broad platform for studios, and for some venues it’s the right choice.

Classes and appointments too

If you also run yoga, Pilates or treatments by appointment, Momence covers them in one place.

A branded customer app

Momence offers a custom branded app. Session gives customers an installable web app instead.

Door access out of the box

Momence integrates with Kisi and Passport, so members can unlock the door from the app. Session reaches door hardware through webhooks.

Both take bookings and payments. It comes down to whether you run a sauna or a studio, and whether you want pricing you can read before you sign up.

“Being one of the first users in Australia, I was a little unsure if it would be the right fit. Especially with currency and timezone differences. All concerns were quickly resolved.”

Common questions

Is Session or Momence better for a sauna?

Session is built only for saunas: shared spaces, private hire, guests choosing how long they stay, and per-guest waivers checked at check-in, with published pricing capped each month. Momence is a broader studio platform for classes and appointments, with a branded app option and built-in door access, and pricing by quote.

How much does Momence cost compared to Session?

Momence’s pricing page asks you to book a call. Its spa and wellness page lists Basic at $0, Pro at $60 a month and Custom at $199 a month, with “No payment fees” only on Custom; its other payment fees aren’t published. Session is free to set up with no subscription: 0.5% per paid booking, capped each month in your own currency (US$150, £100, €90, A$150, C$140, NZ$170), plus Stripe’s card fees.

Does Session work outside the UK?

Yes. Venues run Session in the UK, Ireland, the US, Australia and New Zealand, each in its own currency and timezone. The monthly cap is set in your currency, and card payments go through your own Stripe account wherever Stripe operates.

Can I move from Momence to Session?

Yes. Send us your Momence exports and we’ll import your customers and bookings, and help you set up your memberships, bundles and gift vouchers. Members re-subscribe on Session, because saved card details can’t move between platforms.
